Woah . . . it is becoming apparent that I am lacking time this month . . . time to relax, time to blog, time to get done all that I need/want to. I'm not even sure what day it is - fortunately we have so many Christmas countdown calendars scattered around this house that I can confidently tell you that there are four more days until Christmas . . . which freaks me out more than just a little.
So what have I been up to? So glad you asked . . . ok you probably didn't ask that but I'm going to tell you anyway. Yesterday I attempted to finish my Christmas shopping . . . unsuccessfully I might add. Why are some people just so hard to buy for???? Uggghhh! So, I slid around in the snow trudging from store to store only to wind up 4 days from Christmas and still not done with my shopping. You'd think after many years of doing this to myself I would learn . . . obviously not. I guess there's always next year!
Today the kids and I made cut-out cookies. The last several years my mom and grandma have joined us for this fun project, but because it was like -40 wind chills today . . . the kids and I braved the cookies alone. I swear I don't remember cut-outs last year taking four hours! I am completely pooped after rolling, cutting, frosting, decorating, cleaning and cleaning and cleaning . . . I think this is the first time I've sat down all day. I think Bella ate more sprinkles than she put on the cookies and I hope the family doesn't mind some Kadin saliva smeared all over his cookies . . . I just laughed as I watched him sprinkle, like his fingers, sprinkle, like his fingers. His fingers were so caked with spit and sprinkles . . . o'well . . . maybe I'll only put out the ones I frosted myself. Hee . . . hee . . . hee.
So tomorrow I am back to work for two days and the only thing keeping me sane is that Brian is home so he can hopefully finish all the things I can't seem to.
OH - and did I even mention that in five days I will be boarding a plane for New York City??? Yeah -I figured I didn't . . . probably because I have been all-consumed with Christmas.
I will leave you with a funny Bella story completely unrelated to Christmas, but sure to put a smile on your face and a queasy feeling in your stomach . . . ahem . . .
So - Bella's potty training has been going fabulously! She is pretty much trained and could even possibly go all night with no accidents, but we still diaper her when she sleeps. So, the other day we had breakfast for dinner . . . eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes . . . the works. She tells us that she has to go potty as we're eating. So Brian takes her to the bathroom and when they are finished he comes back with this horrified look on his face . . .
Bella was doing her business in the bathroom. She likes to look into the toilet and watch the pee fall in . . . while she was looking - she noticed that she had a little something stuck to her vagina . . . she looked at it . . . continued to look trying to figure out what it was . . . takes her hand, plucks this little thing and pops it into her mouth. She turns to Brian . . . "Egg!"
I just want to know how a piece of egg even ended up there in the first place!!! I guess we'll never know . . .

So I am jealous that Bella is eating egg off of her vajay jay b/c Katey has yet to "actually" potty on the potty...yep, she will be three in about 10 days, and still not even remotely interested in peeing like a big girl-doesn't even take my bribe of a new Tinkerbell movie (that she wants desperately)....any advice is much appreciated!
PS Merry Christmas and Happy New Year..have fun in New York:)
Oooh, that is a tough one. You know Bella really wasn't interested in the potty either, but she exhibited signs that she was ready . . . like waking up dry from naps and taking on/off her own diaper.
We finally just made the decision for her and took her to the store one day to pick out her own big girl underwear (I would advise NOT to use pull ups) and then she was excited to wear them.
Of course there were some accidents, but she has done soooo well! I would give underwear a try and don't get discouraged when she makes messes in her pants - she will learn. Good luck!
Emily,
With Kadin, we finally made him walk around naked. He refused to let it go without a diaper.
I'm not sure if you can tell when Katey needs to poo. Bella always dropped what she was doing and hid somewhere. If there is some sort of indication she has to go, maybe then try forcing her to go naked. Of course, let's hope she doesn't just drop it on the floor.
Good luck with whatever you do.
